Frequently Asked Questions About DME in Arizona
Answers to the most common questions about insurance-covered durable medical equipment, AHCCCS, Medicare, and working with TruePath Medical Supply in Phoenix, AZ.
Insurance Coverage
Does AHCCCS cover durable medical equipment in Arizona? +
Yes. AHCCCS (Arizona's Medicaid program) covers medically necessary durable medical equipment when prescribed by a licensed physician. Covered items include manual and power wheelchairs, walkers, CPAP machines and supplies, blood glucose monitors and test strips, Dexcom G7 CGM sensors, orthotics and braces, compression stockings, commodes, shower chairs, and incontinence supplies. TruePath Medical Supply is an enrolled AHCCCS provider — we handle all billing directly so you pay nothing out of pocket for covered items.
Does Medicare Part B cover wheelchairs and medical equipment? +
Yes. Medicare Part B pays 80% of the Medicare-approved amount for medically necessary DME prescribed by your doctor for home use. Common covered items include manual wheelchairs (K0001–K0007), CPAP machines (E0601), walkers, hospital beds, blood glucose monitors, orthotics, and compression devices. After your annual deductible, Medicare pays 80% and you are responsible for the remaining 20% (which a supplemental Medigap policy may cover). TruePath is a Medicare-enrolled DMEPOS supplier.
What private insurance plans does TruePath accept? +
TruePath accepts AHCCCS/Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, and most major commercial insurance plans. Contact us at +1 (602) 806-6152 or submit our online form and we will verify your specific plan and benefits at no cost to you before any equipment is ordered.
Will I have any out-of-pocket costs? +
It depends on your specific plan. AHCCCS patients typically pay nothing for covered equipment. Medicare patients pay 20% after their deductible (often covered by a supplemental plan). Private insurance patients pay their deductible and copay per their plan design. TruePath always verifies your benefits before processing any order and communicates your estimated patient responsibility clearly upfront.
Getting Your Equipment
Do I need a prescription to get medical equipment? +
Yes. Insurance-covered DME requires a valid prescription or Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) from a licensed physician documenting the medical need. TruePath works directly with your doctor or referring physician to obtain all required documentation — you do not have to coordinate this yourself. Simply provide your physician's name and contact information and we handle the rest.
What is a CMN (Certificate of Medical Necessity)? +
A Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) is a standardized form completed and signed by your treating physician confirming that a specific piece of equipment is medically necessary for your care at home. Medicare and AHCCCS require a CMN for many equipment categories including power wheelchairs, hospital beds, CPAP machines, and some orthotics. TruePath coordinates directly with your physician to complete and obtain the CMN.
How quickly can I get my equipment delivered? +
Most standard orders are delivered within 24–48 hours after insurance authorization is received. For urgent situations — hospital discharges, post-surgery needs, or acute medical events — TruePath prioritizes same-day or next-day delivery whenever possible. Call us directly at +1 (602) 806-6152 and mention the urgency, and we will do everything we can to expedite your order.
Do you deliver directly to my home? +
Yes. TruePath delivers all equipment directly to your home throughout the greater Phoenix metro area including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, and Gilbert. Our delivery team sets up the equipment and provides patient education so you feel confident using it.
